Shopping at budget stores are great especially if you are looking for a particular trend, but there are certain items everyone should invest in. By investment, I mean an item that you can have for years and will always be in style. It is something you should put money into because you will be saving money in the long run. As stated in my blog post “How to afford being fabulous”, these are the items that are more expensive but you can wear time after time.
Here are 5 of my favorite staple pieces:
A classic pump
Everyone should have a pair of pumps, whether its for a date, a job interview, or a night on the town. I would recommend a neutral pair in black or nude, so that you can wear it with everything.
Cole Haan $248
Sam Edelman $110
Kate Spade $298
A black dress
This may seem like cliché choice, but a LBD can be a great asset to your wardrobe. You can dress it up with a blazer or down with a pair of flats. However you wear it, this is a must have for everyone.
French Connection $188
Vince Camuto $138
Alice and Olivia $275
A blazer
Most people consider a blazer to be a business staple, but this jacket is the perfect addition to your favorite jeans, white tee, and heels. It can dress up any outfit and make it look professional. Put it over a LBD and you’re ready for a nice dinner or business meeting. Who doesn’t love a classic look?
BCBGMAXAZRIA $228
French Connection $212.85
Topshop $115
A good pair of jeans
As previously stated, a good blazer, white tee, pair of jeans, and heels can take you anywhere. The key to a great pair of denim is the fit. I personally love a good dark skinny jean. You can dress it up for a fancy brunch or down for a day of errands.
Joe’s Jeans $179
Hudson $209
True Religion $188
A great handbag
The mecca of all investment pieces, the handbag. I personally love a neutral bag that can go with every outfit in your closet. There’s nothing better than throwing everything in one bag, reducing the “switching bags” hassle. Make sure the bag you pick is very versatile so it’s worth the investment.
Kate spade $298
Henri Bendel $298
Marc Jacobs $378
